IAI setting up Cyber R & D centre in Singapore [Link]
Good job EDB ! Bring back the jobs, this will have "trickle down" ( the real kind of trickle down not your bankers kind of trickle down) effects for other sectors. Parents will be more willing to encourage their children to take Computer Science programmes again just like "old times" before the torrential avalanche of I.T. "out-sourcing" which killed a generation of hard working, studious, talented Singaporean I.T. graduates from the Polytechnics and Universities.
Not surprise if currently there is a "gap", i.e. a lot of I.T. trained "oldies" doing some other jobs in Singapore and starting to see many "youngsters" taking up I.T. courses in institutions and the "hollow" in between their age range.
This hollowing out of sinkie I.T. professionals are currently being filled by foreign workers...
I.T. jobs are good jobs, they are orders of magnitude better than casino jobs, if their parents can help it. It's not like you want your children to work in a casino, but for survival, you need to work, to put food on the table.
