Consider recently PM LHL made a tour of NZ and RSN Frigate Stalwart was there for bilateral naval exercises. He also visited Aussie-land where SAF Army and Air Force troops were there for unilateral training and made speeches to the effect that SG welcome the US presence.

Then our Defence Minister went on a tour of S. Korea and Japan and must have level-to-level close door meetings with his counterpart? Both countries are US ally...

It takes a CHC, with her connection to the Washington diplomatic circle, to make a statement, in an American Main Stream Media, to be picked up by the CCP, maybe to appease China? 

There is no forever friend and forever enemy? Only interest of the state.
